Collin College Golf is making moves in its first season. The teams have had strong finishes in the two most recent tournaments.
Coach Cooper Schoolcraft is pleased with the team's progress.
"We're consistently improving every week, which is all I can ask," Schoolcraft said. "Our scoring averages have shown continual improvement since the fall season, and we have several players who are on track to peak at the right time. It'll be exciting to see the momentum build over the next month as we move into conference play."
The women's team finished fifth in the Murray State Bruzzy Spring Fling and the Midland College Tanklogix Invitational. The men's team finished seventh and 10th in the tournaments. Both teams battled through some tough weather conditions throughout the two-day tournament.
Johnna Johanson continues to lead the charge for the women's team. Her performance at the Tanklogix was good enough to set new two-round total and single-round scoring records for the women's team. That improves on her previous records, which were set at the 4 Him Classic in late February. She finished ninth individually (87-74) in the tourney.
Sophomores Noel Bondesson and Brodey Deacon have been strong performers so far for the men's team. Bondesson shot 78-76 at Murray State and 71-77-71 at Midland. Deacon shot 79-77 at Murray State.
"We're excited to see how both players continue to progress as we move through these next five weeks," Schoolcraft said.
